REHABILITATION

Continuing Your Recovery

Your healthcare journey doesn’t end when the crisis is over. After the illness passes, the surgery is completed, or the injury is healed, we provide services to help you recapture as much of your former abilities as possible. Our skilled therapists will come to your home — wherever that may be — and work with you to restore your mobility, your ability to perform typical tasks, and your power of speech.

Physical Therapy

Our physical therapists are trained professionals who help patients regain their range of motion, manage pain, restore function and improve quality of life. They examine each patient and then develop a treatment plan that includes hands-on care, specific exercises, and training for both patients and caregivers to follow the plan.

For example, following hip replacement surgery, the therapist will work with you to help increase your range of motion and restore your natural walking pattern, which may have been compromised by years of debilitating pain.

Occupational Therapy

Our occupational therapists are trained professionals who help patients regain their ability to perform routine tasks and activities, usually as a means of rehabilitation or therapy after an injury or illness. They work with patients to evaluate their range of motion, motor skills and their ability to perform basic tasks such as dressing, tying shoes, combing hair and other lifestyle tasks.

Following a stroke, for example, the occupational therapist might help you function more independently by developing a treatment plan that includes exercise, movements to develop muscle memory, sensory feedback and practice in performing tasks you perform at home and at work.

Speech Therapy

Our speech-language therapists have many responsibilities. Typically, they evaluate a patient’s communication or swallowing abilities, diagnose underlying problems, develop a personal treatment plan, provide therapy, and maintain records to track a person’s progress.

Their work may include helping patient’s re-learn how to form sounds, using exercises to strengthen muscles used to speak or swallow, and educating patients and their caregivers about how to overcome challenges stemming from communication or swallowing issues.

Speech therapy is especially valuable following most strokes that involve the brain.
